As an ensemble member of Chicago’s Tony Award winning Lookingglass Theatre Co. , Joey Slotnick is adept at getting into character. The actor, who is now starring in Ethan Cohen’s Happy Hour Off-Broadway took a trip to Saks Fifth Avenue, where he played the role of a reporter, getting the scoop on the latest men’s styles.
Slotnick has starred on stage and screen, including Our Town co-directed by Anna D. Shapiro, HBO’s Too Big to Fail and 2012’s The Dictator, with Sacha Baron Cohen and Megan Fox.
Saks asks, Joey Answers:
Most memorable trip to Saks was… the photo shoot.
On my playlist … Paul McCartney’s self-titled first album after The Beatles, Tom Waits, Coldplay and lots of Jazz.
I collect… vintage foreign movie posters and cameras.
Grooming essentials…[Products from] Mario Badescu and Kiehl’s. And I’m a sucker for a barber shop shave.
Lucky charm… my wife.
When I’m not on set I can be found… on my Vespa looking for a great sandwich joint.
Favorite destination…Israel, Paris, Isleboro, Maine and of course New York.
My style can be described as … Cool/nebbishy/vintage? Picture this: a Dries Van Noten sweater , APC jeans, a Jack Spade bag and Pierre Hardy high-tops.
My style icons are … Steve McQueen, Woody Allen and Buster Keaton.
Favorite characters in film … Roger Thornhill [as portrayed by Cary Grant] in North by Northwest, George Bailey [as portrayed by Jimmy Stewart] in It’s a Wonderful Life, Ben Braddock [as portrayed by Dustin Hoffman] in The Graduate, just to name a few…
Words to live by… “Take Chances. If it scares you, do it.”
