I didn’t need to be asked twice to cover the Beauty Editors Day to benefit Look Good, Feel Better on Thursday, August 16th. It was the perfect opportunity to ask these ladies the one question I had always wanted the answer to:
What tip that you learned on the job is now part of your everyday beauty routine?

Jane Larkworthy, Beauty Director, W: “Applying eyeliner on the inner lash line as opposed to above the lashes” is her favorite tip learned on the job. Shoving the liner up into the lashes from below gives the perfect definition to the eye without looking over-done.

Molly Nover Baker, Beauty Director, Women’s Health: “Eye primer is a must.” Molly won’t do her eye makeup without it- she says that a good primer drastically increases the staying power of her shadows, improves their appearance on the lid and guarantees a crease-free finish.

Ying Chu, Beauty Director, Marie Claire: “Blush is more important than concealer.” When she wants to look awake, instead of reaching for concealer, Ying applies blush to the apples of her cheeks for an instant glow- coupled with an eyelash curler to open up the eyes, it works wonders.

Holly Carter, Beauty Director, People StyleWatch: “Exfoliating 3 times a week is the easiest way to get skin glowing.” In addition, she loves that it makes skincare products absorb better and sloughs off dead skin cells- a super simple way to boost one’s complexion in seconds.

Alyssa Hertzig, Beauty Director, Shape: “Foundation all over your face is a mistake that leads to a mask-like look.” Instead, Alyssa applies product in the middle of her face, focusing on red areas around the nose, forehead and chin. Then, she blends the foundation outwards — leaving a natural, but still polished, finish. Bonus tip- she swears by a foundation brush.

Pamela Edwards, Beauty and Fashion Director, People: “White polish under neon polish makes it pop.” Think of the white polish like a primer, she says- one coat is the perfect base to insure that bright hues look, well, bright.
