Confession: I had mentally prepared myself not to love La Prairie’s newest addition to the iconic Caviar collection. An addiction to a $500 skincare product was not something I needed to develop. But alas, my reflection in the mirror trumped my fleeting sense of frugality and I am officially hooked.
The whole caviar thing came about 25 years ago, when La Prairie became the first brand to harness the power of caviar in skincare. A doctor had said that eating a spoonful of caviar provided all the necessary nutrients for one day- and the scientists at La Prairie wondered if caviar could do that for the body, just imagine what it could do for the skin?
Well — it turns out that it can do quite a lot. Caviar offers unparalleled firmness, protection, nourishment and energy to the skin, and provides the proteins, vitamins and minerals necessary for a strong and vital complexion.
This particular new product comes in my favorite format of all- a serum- which can be seamlessly worked into any skincare routine to make it feel that much more luxurious, not to mention that much more effective.
And what’s not to love about a product that lets you play a mad beauty scientist of sorts? Upon the first use, you need to activate the formula- taking the Golden Caviar Pearls that are suspended in an anti-wrinkle peptide solution and merging them with an epidermal recovery complex for maximum potency.
I have only been using the serum for a week, but I can honestly attest to the fact that my skin —which has been in a major between-season rut — looks noticeably more youthful. And after 10 years in the beauty industry where I have seen hundreds — if not thousands — of products promise just that, you can be assured it is not a statement I make lightly.
