Discovering new beauty brands never bores me. I find it fascinating that in such a competitive industry, up and coming brands still find a way to thrive and innovate. When I heard that Le Métier de Beauté was launching on Saks.com, I used it as an excuse to learn a little more about the line.
I asked the brand’s Director of Color, Mikey Castillo, to populate my personal shopping list:
The must-try product?
According to Mikey, it is the Classic Flawless Finish Foundation. He tells me, “Most coverage foundations use a cross polymer vinyl, an agent that allows makeup to roll onto the skin…and after a few hours, roll right off. This foundation contains hyaluronic acid and Nylon 12, so it bends and moves with the skin but doesn’t sacrifice staying power.
What is Blonzer?
Le Metiér de Beauté coined the term “blonzer.” Here is why — since a true glow can’t appear frosty orange, but rather needs to give off a tanned cocoa butter warmth, the Blonzer compact holds a perfect combination of blush and bronzer with plum undertones. This blend creates a sun-kissed effect that looks completely natural on a wide variety of skin tones, 365 days a year.
Eyeliner with a cult following…
In my personal experience, liquid liners can be hit or miss. So when I hear about one that people seem to be buying by the dozen, I need the details. According to Mikey, “It’s all about the quill tip – Precision Liquid Liner has a fat base that graduates to an ultra precise tip for maximum control.” Oh- and another makeup artist must-know piece of advice he shared? To get a perfect line, Mikey recommends you “lay the tip flat on its side on the eyelash bed, making small dots and dashes along the lash line, connecting them once you’ve gone from corner to corner.”
Oh, and one more product that I am dying to get my hands on? The Transformer Magic Lustre Cream- it transforms any powder pigments — such as eye shadow or blush — into sheer stains and glosses for lips, cheeks and eyes. A creative way to maximize your makeup bag’s mileage — so smart!
