Saks Fifth Avenue has had a long and deep kinship with the worlds of art and design. In celebration of ICFF, the contemporary furniture industry’s highly anticipated show at the Jacob K. Javits Center taking place this week, Saks is paying homage to one of the hottest design companies our there, Amuneal, with our Fifth Avenue Windows.

Harry Cunningham, Senior Vice President of Store Planning and Visual Merchandising at Saks, has tapped Amuneal Chief Executive Officer, Adam Kamens, to create a series of vignettes to explore science, wonder and experimentation. The laboratory-like windows delve into scientific discovery, integrating fashion with elements such as maps of the world, radio tubes, antique wrenches to modern taxidermy.

“Contemporary design is such a constant at Saks and we think it’s important to support the arts and the things that inspire us,” says Cunningham. The installations are juxtaposed with mannequins wearing the latest designs from Saks Fifth Avenue.

“This is really about curation,” says Kamens, who with his team, has spent years procuring found objects such as a giant whale vertebrae, daguerreotypes and geodes that are nothing short of fascinating.

The windows celebrating ICFF will be up all this week.
