SaksPOV sat down with actor Chris Evans of Captain America fame. Along with Evan Rachel Wood, Evans is the face of Gucci’s latest fragrance Gucci Guilty Intense Pour Homme. For this second installment in the Gucci Guilty family of fragrances, the masculinity has been pumped up with strong notes of amber and leather. Check out the commercial below for the fragrance directed by Frank Miller.

On Partnering with Gucci… “I was happier about this than most movie jobs. It’s a great gig. There are a lot of actors that do a lot of campaigns for a lot of different products. You have to decide whether or not you want to commit to this product. What do you want to associate yourself with? It’s Gucci and you have to assume it’s going to be the best of the best. And it was.”

A Time When He Felt Really Guilty … “I’m Irish Catholic. I think I’m always feeling a little guilty [laughs]. Ok, the first time I saw Playboy in the third grade. I felt horrible. I told my mother. I was at my friend Tom’s house and was silent the whole car ride home. When we got home I said, ‘ma, I looked at a naked lady today.’ I felt horrible. I wasn’t allowed back at Tom’s house.”

The Commercial…“The whole concept was about sense memory. Smelling something and being taken somewhere. It’s an incredibly relatable concept. Everyone can relate to smelling something and being taken somewhere. Scent is one of the strongest.  Drakkar reminds me of my dad’s medicine cabinet. To this day I smell chlorine and I’m taken back to my buddy’s pool that was over chlorinated as a kid — my mother’s perfume.”

On Working with Evan Rachel Wood… “She’s so great. She’s young, but incredibly mature. Evan is on point. She’s a smart, professional, talented actress. If you watch her as an artist, she’s a brilliant.”

Gucci Guilty Intense…“When I first tried it I thought, ‘thank God.’ I had signed on before and the worst possible outcome would have been some horrible cologne that I now have to promote. But it just smells fantastic. I’m a big fan of colognes and smell is a big thing for me.”

On Fashion…“I’ve never been much of a clothes horse or fashion guy, but over the past couple years I’ve found myself a little more interested. Well does the belt match? I’m a little more excited to get dressed up now. My buddies say that looks good. And I say that’s right. Come on guys. We’re 30 now and we can’t just wear baseball caps and hoodies.”

First Gucci Purchase…“True Story. When I was 19, maybe 20, my first premiere for a critically acclaimed film called Not Another Teen Movie and I needed a suit. I didn’t have much money, but I splurged and treated myself to a Gucci suit. I think if you go back on my professional career from 1999 to 2003, I wore the same Gucci suit to everything. It was the nicest thing I owned.”

Guilty Pleasure…“Um, I’ll tell you my guilty pleasure, but it’s going to insult my intelligence. It’s a little low brow, but I got to be honest. I really like America’s Funniest Home Videos. There’s something about a little kid in winter gear and letting some German Shepherd go sprinting around them. Its matter of time before that collision is perfect. It’s not the cleverest program, but it’s what I like.”
