Since crossing the pond less than a year ago, Petra Stunt has managed to keep herself quite busy. Just last July, the native Londoner went out and bought herself the the most famous home in Los Angeles (Candy and Aaron Spelling’s former Manor) and redecorated it in a matter of weeks. Now the British heiress and daughter of Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone has set her sights on the fashion world with her new handbag label Stark, debuting at Saks this spring.
Stark features an assortment of whimsical clutches and day bags decorated in colorful exotic skins and Swarovski crystals, inspired by the neon palette of artist Tracy Emin. The line ranges from $600 to $5,000 and is as luxury-driven as Stunt, herself. Boxed minaudieres are lined with python trimmed suede, the Panther clutch features a solid gold closure shaped like the animal. For the more modestly minded, Stark offers ladylike satchels and oversized clutches that could easily be carried from day into evening.
“I wanted to create a beautiful line, with attention to detail inside and out,” says Stunt. “Stark is edgy, fun and sexy yet luxurious. It’s about playing with sleek, timeless shapes and incorporating different, fun textures and finishes.”
Baguettes, soft envelopes, and arc-shaped styles in pastel python round out Stark’s premiere collection, each with a name catchier than the last: Bag It Up, Lady Like and Size Matters. From Stunt’s majestic Manor home to her fashion-fueled goals (which will eventually involve footwear) size matters, indeed.
